Tighter personal interviews help root out sham Australian marriage visa applications
September 2nd, 2009
A stricter marriage visa interview has been introduced by the Australian Immigration department to deal with the increase in sham marriages and civil partnerships.
The Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship Bona Fides Unit is dedicated to assessing the genuine and on-going nature of marriages, de facto relationships and civil partnerships for those people applying for Australian partner and spouse visas.

It is a good thing that the Australian Immigration does this kind of assessments to avoid sham marriages.
How are you so sure people 47sp forms are illegibly filled out? Can I send information to people who will be applying with fraudulent records?
I want to report these people, the one is an australian resident and right now she’s here in the Philippines to fix things so she can bring the man with her when she gets back to Australia. The man is married and has no legal annulment filed or separation filed with his wife but pan to marry the australian woman in the embassy this coming June. How you will really check the authenticity of the information they will feed?
Well I am not so sure that this has been strictly enforced!
I know an Australian Lady who met a Nigerian guy living in KL on the net. They chatted for a few Months, she flew to KL to meet him for the first time in person after Christmas 2009, they were married within a few days, she flew back to Australia, they applied for his Visa from KL early 2010 and he has just got his Visa and arrived in Australia on November 14th 2010. Thats a very short turn around for someone with no proven long term relationship!
